Lifters & Handling Equipm. - how to select the right one::

Cycle time

240 litre Bins:
A cycle time of less than 10 seconds is considered the norm. This time is measured from the time that the lifter picks up the bin, though the complete tipping cycle, until the bin has been returned to the ground. It is important that this time is not affected by factors such as, the weight of the bin, whether or not the compactor is running.

Cycle times of 7 to 8 seconds are considered ideal, whilst faster speeds can be achieved it is often at the expense of the bin and or machinery. Personnel safety and noise are also factors to consider.

500 – 1100 litre Bins
A cycle time of less than 15 seconds is considered the norm.

Something else to consider when looking at the cycle time is whether the lifter is a High level or Low level lifter. (see High level versus Low level)
This influences the cycle time indirectly as you may have to wait for the truck to finish compacting before you can empty the bin. This should only occur if you are using a Low level lifter and not when you are using a High level lifter.

The cycle time for a 2-wheel-bin lifter is normally measured with an empty 240 litre bin. Timed from bin standing flat on the ground, taken up to full tipping position, returned instantly and time stopped when the bin hits the ground.
