Discussion Forum Welcome to this discussion forum that has been created for anybody to ask questions, give opinions, share views, or simply learn about waste collection involving wheelie bins, mobile garbage bins (MGB's) or carts. Although Mechlift hosts this forum, it is not necessary to restrict yourselves to bin lifters per se. We welcome participation from absolutely anybody (yes, even our competitors) as long as there is some remote connection to waste bin handling in the process. Participation from outside of South Africa would be particularly welcome.
Looking at the big picture, particularly for those contemplating the containerisation of their waste. Have a look at, and talk about, what other people around the world are doing
Where do we get mobile bins? What sizes, standards and specifications? Why do some bins work better than others for particular applications and lifters/compactors? . . . . .
Surely a lifter is just a lifter!? Why do we talk about high/low-level, split comb or fixed comb, tipping angle, cycle time, etc. etc. . . .Or, are we just trying to be complicated?
Does the operator have to wait for the compactor before loading the next bin? Will my compactor handle the wear and tear? Side loaders versus rear end loaders (REL's).
Power take-off points for driving lifter hydraulics, Engine speed control systems, Handbrake interface, and all those things that we should be thinking about when picking a chassis . . . . .
Where do we go with the load on the truck? Transfer to other trucks, trains, ships? Do we burn, bury, recycle the waste? Equipment for burning, burying, recycling or any other final process.
Let the bin talk to the lifter, that talks to the vehicle, that talks to the engine, gearbox, compactor, weighbridge and accounts department . . . All the electronics with data collection and control.
For anything that does not fit into a specific topic above. Have a suggestion on how to improve this Forum or having problems to use it? Want a place to experiment with using this Forum? Or do you just want to talk about the weather.....
